Will you help us get Vegan Soul Food printed?
Last spring, in celebration of Juneteenth, Food Empowerment Project (F.E.P.) launched our latest culinary website, VeganSoulFood.org! We are so proud of this site and how it brings together recipes familiar to those in the African diaspora community and helps us honor these food traditions without the suffering of non-human animals. From Jamaican pumpkin rice and Afro-Caribbean jerk cabbage to Ethiopian kik alicha (yellow split pea stew) and fried “oysters” with creamy Cajun sauce—as well as collard greens, mac and cheese, and garlic mashed potatoes—this collection of recipes has something for everyone.
“ "Vegan soul food means healthier meal options as close to my Southern roots as possible, without giving up on flavor.”
—Candace Evans-Forrester, F.E.P. supporter and recipe contributor
Not everyone has access to the Internet, however—or they prefer the convenience of recipes in print—so we are now preparing to publish the Vegan Soul Food recipe guide! Like the other culinary booklets in our collection, Vegan Soul Food will be a full-color guide filled with recipes and images designed to demonstrate that people can enjoy their favorite comfort foods without consuming animals and without compromising their culture. (Although this resource will be a tool for anyone.)
But we need your support to make this a reality! A generous donation today will help us get Vegan Soul Food into print.
“ “In a world that is constantly changing and evolving, soul food remains a constant and a reminder of where we come from. It is a connection to our roots and a celebration of our culture. It is more than just a type of cuisine; it is a way of life.”
—Chef Victoria-Lee Lewis,, F.E.P. supporter and recipe contributor
Ethical veganism is key to the work of F.E.P., and concern for all animals drives our passion to create tools that help people go and stay vegan. We hope you are among the tens of thousands of people around the world who have been visiting our sites and trying vegan versions of well-known traditional foods.
Will you help us get Vegan Soul Food printed?
Thank you again for being a valuable member of F.E.P.’s support community.
